Pfäffl FemtoFlapLifter

Thanks to the growing number of Femto-LASIK surgeries being performed in Germany and wordwide, the use of this instrument has become very popular. The instrument was developed to separate the femtosecond laser flap and has proved useful for the “hinge opening” technique.

Mode of operation and advantages:

The initial lifting of the flap is carried out using the delicate round hook-like side of the FlapLifter. The dissector part is then inserted in the slit between stroma and flap and slid until it exists through the flap edge on the opposite side. In comparison to straight instruments, the curved shape of this dissector perfectly matches the physiological curvature of the cornea, whereby perforation of the flap is considerably reduced. Furthermore, force is distributed evenly on the nasal and temporal flap edges and an instrument slippage to the insertion side is extremely lowered.
