IOS Impulse Oscillometry, Effort-independent pulmonary function testing of airways resistance and spirometry

IOS allows you to determine the respiratory system impedance and reliably measures central and peripheral airways resistance in 30 seconds of quiet breathing. IOS is especially suited for use in the fields of pulmonary, pediatrics, geriatrics and occupational medicine. The CareFusion IOS can be used as a stand alone device or in addition to an existing Jaeger MasterScreen® or SensorMedics Vmax® system.

  • Asthma patients may be asymptomatic with normal spirometry and still show levels of increased airways resistance. IOS measures impedance at different frequencies indicative of central and peripheral airways resistance. View More...
  • Empower yourself to help. IOS can test a larger patient range than spirometry alone, from adult down to 3-years of age, making IOS useful in more clinical settings.

  •     Interpretations are easier using our lung-thorax graphics model and faster with the automated Acceptability/non-Acceptability commenting. Vmax IOS customers may also create their own automated interpretations with the Logic Tree software option.
  • Bronchodilator therapy often does not reach the peripheral airways. IOS can provide objective response to drug therapy even when FEV1 can’t.
  • Should an artifact appear during the measurement, simply delete later by using the re-entrant function.
  • IOS is portable when used together with a notebook computer.
